The Visual & Performing Arts Division of Gulf Coast State College presents Ubiquity by Elyse-Krista Mische. The exhibit brings together works that preserve a sense of past, present, and future, while contemplating the great act of life and the imminence of death.  From figures floating in and out of colorful alternate realities to a caped bird-person planting seeds for future memories, the audience is encouraged to never be in exactly one place at any given time. Elyse-Krista Mische is a mixed-media illustrator who grew up in St. Cloud Minnesota. She earned her B.A. in studio art from Lawrence University of Appleton Wisconsin in 2011. She has exhibited nationally since 2010, and has completed artist residencies at Holden Village, Elsewhere Studios and The Charles Adams Studio Project. Currently, Elyse-Krista is an artist in residence at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. The exhibit will run from October 16 – November 9, with a reception on the evening of October 27, 5:00p.m. – 7:00 p.m.  Elyse-Krista Mische will present a lecture about her work on October 27, 1:00p.m. – 2:00p.m. in the Amelia Center, room AC128. The work will be on display in the Amelia Center Gallery (room 112). Gallery hours are Monday – Thursday, 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., and Friday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Admission is free. Some background information: Education Encore is offered by Corporate College at Gulf Coast State College and provides non-credit enrichment classes on a variety of topics for active and senior adults. The learning environment is fun and stress-free while offering diversity, insight, and wisdom.   As one of our participants stated, Education ENCORE is one of the best education bargains in the Bay Area.  For less than $100.00 students can take four six week courses that are taught by local community experts and GCSC faculty.  A wide range of courses are offered that address purely recreational pursuits, the arts, foreign languages, science, social science, and physical fitness.   Two six week sessions; one in the fall and one in the winter provide adult learners the opportunity to experience, for the first time, or to relive their undergraduate experience.  To me the most important aspect of the ENCORE program is that it provides the citizens of Bay County, and our winter visitors, the opportunity to be life-long learners. The fee for participants at the Panama City Campus is $92 for the six-week program, which includes four classes each Friday.  The classes run from 9:00am-3:45pm.   Some background information: Education Encore is offered by Corporate College at Gulf Coast State College and provides non-credit enrichment classes on a variety of topics for active and senior adults. Jon Miller's follow up to his What is New Thought? documentary is an insightful and thought changing docu-drama base on New Thought author James Allen's classic book, As A Man Thinketh. "With his professional and personal life in turmoil, Jimmy's life takes an unexpected turn as the transformative teachings of an antique book help him realize how his thoughts are, in fact, shaping his world. Insightful documentary interviews with renowned authors, speakers, and ministers are used throughout the film to highlight the powerful message of the book -- that our thoughts are the creative force in our lives." Filmed in the vein of a What the Bleep Do We Know? style, the film is peppered with inspired conervsations with such new thought luminaries as Rev. Michael Beckwith, Edwene Gaines, Mitch Horowitz, Rev. Sherri James, Faith Rivera, Dr. Joe Vitale and more. Join us on Friday, October 20 at 7 pm for this stunning venture into the mind of a new thought master.
