Panama City, FL – July 27, 2023 – In celebration of National Oyster Day on August 5, 2023, Destination Panama City is teaming with Hunt’s Oyster Bar for the second year in a row to celebrate guests who eat their very first oyster at the restaurant. Whether you slurp it raw on the half shell, devour it fried, or try it baked with house butter and parmesan cheese (a local favorite), you’ll get a special “Golden Oyster” keepsake to take home to mark the occasion. With over a dozen restaurants on the Panama City Oyster Trail, visitors can enter to win an oyster-themed gift basket when they visit one of the participating restaurants on the trail. Valued at $500, the basket is filled with an assortment of local items, including a one-night stay at Hotel Indigo and an oyster entrée from their restaurant, Tarpon’s.

“National Oyster Day celebrates the ocean’s greatest treasure – the oyster! Here at Hunt’s we love the excitement that comes along with trying an oyster for the first time – there’s nothing like it!,” says Collins Abrams, co-owner of Hunt’s Oyster Bar.

“National Oyster Day is a chance to savor the rich flavors of the sea, and our Panama City Oyster Trail takes this culinary experience to new heights. Witnessing visitors from near and far making memories always brings a smile. The Oyster Trail showcases not just our bivalve delights, but also the unique coastal charm that makes Panama City a must-visit destination for seafood enthusiasts and travelers seeking unforgettable experiences,” said Jennifer Vigil, CEO of Destination Panama City.

From the sight of the little yellow building by the bay to the familiar crunch of the crushed oyster shells under your feet as you walk through the parking lot, Hunt’s has that one-of-a-kind nostalgia that always brings you back. So, whether you’re an oyster connoisseur or it’s your first oyster, a trip to Hunt’s is another reason we #LovePC.
