Panama City, Florida to Host International Regattas this Spring
Panama City, FL – December 12, 2017 – This spring, Panama City will host two international sailing competitions on the idyllic St. Andrews Bay. Offering constant breezes and calm waters, St. Andrews Bay has been long revered as a sailor’s paradise. As the deepest and largest protected bay in the area, Panama City attracts a number of competitive regattas every year.

Panama City will serve as host for the following regattas:
2018 ISCA Masters World Championship, March 17 – 20, 2018
St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club will host the inaugural 2018 International Sunfish Class Association Masters World Championship from March 17 – 20. Sailors ages 40 and up will travel to Panama City from all over the United States and the world to compete for the title of 2018 Sunfish Masters World Champion. This regatta, endorsed by the International Sunfish Class Association, will feature the traditional 3-day racing format as past International Masters Championships.
2018 USSCA National Championship at Midwinters, March 21 – 24, 2018
Sunfish sailors from all over the United Stated and the world will flock to Panama City for this Pan American Games qualifying event from March 21 – 24. Sailors will compete for three slots to qualify their country to sail in the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. The Pan American Games are an Olympic-style competition for athletes from all nations of the Americas. They are conducted every four years, always one year before the Olympic Games.
The 2018 ISCA Masters World Championship and 2018 USSCA National Championship at Midwinters can be viewed from many locations in Panama City that have a view of the open bay. The public can participate in the regatta festivities by purchasing a ticket at www.panamacityregatta.com.
