Singer Songwriter Festival Makes Debut in Panama City
Intimate festival welcomes musicians and music lovers to the Panhandle
Panama City, FL – August 1, 2018 – The inaugural Panama City Songwriters Festival debuts this fall in the Panhandle. Musicians from across the country will perform original songs in intimate listening rooms throughout downtown Panama City from November 16-18. Locals and visitors alike are invited to experience historic downtown while listening to songs and stories from over 70 artists.
“Between the Martin Theater, Marina Civic Center and the Panama City Center for the ARTS, Panama City has a thriving performance arts scene,” said Jennifer Vigil, president and CEO of Destination Panama City. “We are excited to bring even more live performances to our city’s arts and culture scene with the PC Songwriters Festival.”
Panama City’s most notable art galleries and performance art spaces will transform into music venues for the weekend event. Singers ranging from budding songwriters to seasoned performers and genres ranging from Pop to Americana and Country to Rock n’ Roll will take the stage. Many of the performers have written popular radio singles with one duo responsible for a total of 21 number one hits. Artists include Monty Powell and Anna Wilson, Travis Meadows, Adam Wakefield, Gabe Dixon, Will Kimbrough and more.
“This festival gives listeners the opportunity to hear the inspiration and process of how each song was made,” said Will Thompson, festival organizer. “You definitely don’t have to be a musician to enjoy this festival. We want everyone to listen.”
VIP ticket holders can start the weekend early on Friday with a choice of private events. The weekend continues with performances from noon to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at five different walkable venues in historic downtown Panama City. Young songwriters are also encouraged to perform over the weekend with a Youth Songwriters Contest.
Proceeds from the event will go towards Bay Youth Music Association to help kids follow their musical passion even if they can’t afford instruments. To purchase general admission and VIP tickets, visit www.pcsongwriters.com/.
