Strummin’ Man Ukulele Festival Returning to Panama City
PANAMA CITY, Fla., June 15, 2018 – This fall, Panama City’s acclaimed Strummin’ Man Ukulele Festival returns. This eccentric event, happening October 12 – 14, 2018, will feature renowned ukulele artists in concert, workshops, vendors and local and visiting ukulele groups, including The Ukulele Orchestra of St. Andrews.
The event is organized by the Ukulele Orchestra of St. Andrews, a nonprofit organization started in 2014. The group regularly performs concerts around Panama City, and has provided ukuleles, equipment and programs to a growing list of local Panama City schools and organizations to assist with music education.
“The Ukulele Orchestra of St. Andrews is a great example of how creativity brings people together in Panama City,” says Destination Panama City President and CEO Jennifer Vigil. “Made up of members of our community, the group continues to spread their knowledge and passion for music to others, strengthening our local performing arts scene.”
The festival includes performances and workshops by Gerald Ross, one of America’s best-known advocates for the ukulele, Heidi Swedberg, a recording artist, teacher and performer, and John Atkins, YouTube’s Ukulele Teacher. There will also be a special performance by Taimane.
The event will be held at the Panama City Marina, in downtown Panama City. Festival hours are 10:00am – 8:00pm daily.
Tickets are $15 per day, or $35 for a weekend listener pass. There is also an “All Access” pass for those who want to listen and take part in all workshops. To purchase tickets and to learn more, visit www.standrewsukes.org.
